Contrast #1
This pond is close to the hotel and full of wildlife, especially birds, butterflies and dragonflies. The city is gradually approaching from behind.
-
Fruit Stalls, Hyderabad
This was taken from half way up the Charminar. If you look closely, you can see beggars waiting to leap out...
-
Bustle
Another picture from the top of the Charminar. This just shows the bustle of the streets. On most city streets, the cars would be in neat lines going in two directions. Not here.
-
Mecca Masjid Mosque
This mosque holds 10,000 people, one of the largest in the world. Hyderabad is 50% muslim.
-
Charminar
This is a bit wobbly. A beggar had hold of me and wouldn't let go.

Golconda
You know when you have had a brush with heatstroke when you look back and realise that you did some weird stuff. Well, here is one weird photo - for me anyway - it has people in it and - I can hardly believe it myself - they are looking toward me. No way I took this.
-
Golconda
Inside Golconda Fort again. This time with a kid, posing, in a red shirt. The fortress is huge, something like the Alhambra without quite so much ornate muslim architecture and the gardens are less lush. The fortress was abandoned for lack of water and, ironically, I abandoned it for exactly the same reason about five minutes after this picture!

Bougainvilla
My camera has a special shoot-on-sight mode for Bouganvilla

Ahh Pretty
The pond teems with butterflies, dragonflies and damselflies. Joy. This one is probably a Common Rose - (Atrophaneura aristolochiae). Latin name is a bit up-my-bum I know but I need to write it down somewhere for Alamy :)

Contrast #2
This is the pool of the hotel. The people in the city behind tend not to have pools, strangely.

Kite
These kites seem to be the equivalent of crows here. They are everywhere. This one was being chased around by a much smaller, noisier hawk.

Purple stuff
These look like a purple paradise flower, Estralitzia thingy - about to flower.
-
Prickly Pear.
Where's Baloo when you need him?
-
Palm leaves.
Remind me of peacocks. Don't know why.
